My Koala kitchen sink tap would only pump water very intermittently. It would either work perfectly or sit there doing nothing when switched on.

After a lot of messing about, I isolated the problem to a faulty microswitch in the tap. My local c@r@v@n dealers sold me a replacement switch for £4 like this one:

However I found that fitting it wasn't completely straightforward so I thought I'd pass on my experiences here:

a) To fit the replacement switch you need to remove the tap on/off knob. This comes off by just pulling hard upwards.
b) Once the knob is off the microswitch is visible in the housing. You will need pliers to pull it upwards. Mine was so tightly fixed in (glued?) that removal resulted in its destruction so it was a good job that I was replacing it anyway. The new one is much easier to get out for some reason.
c) When I attempted to fit the new switch into place I found that no matter how carefully I positioned it, the switch mechanism fouled the side of the tap body. It just wasn't going to work correctly, but I knew I had the correct replacement switch - there is really only one type to fit.
d) Then I noticed that the design of the new switch was subtly different to the old one and had a thicker plastic section in the middle. This was causing the switch to sit in a twisted manner in the tap body.
e) The solution was to trim the side of the switch with a Stanley knife to remove the excess plastic. It then slotted into place and all was well with the movement of the switch. Now the tap works perfectly again.

So the moral of this story is that if you have a Combi-Camp kitchen unit older than a few years (not sure how many mine is circa 10) then you may find that the design of the microswitch has changed since yours was fitted. Of course you could always just replace the whole tap, but they cost around £20.

Hope this helps someone. I would have posted photos but I didn't take any at the time!

Howard.

Thanks Howard. I expect my Panda would be the same vintage, so I will remember that. daumen_hoch
