Hi I have a Combi Camp Venezia. Recently I have noticed that one corner of the main unit [at the back behind the kitchen] seems to droop. The extender pole doesn't push the corner out to its full extent and I have had to put a support leg between the kitchen and the top corner to "push" it up and out. The canvas looks distorted too. It means the top of the kitchen unit, when open, is touching the canvas on the awning, which can't be too good.

I believe there are springs in the extender poles [the diagonal/horizontal ones] and I remember that once while putting the unit up it wasn't tightened enough and loosened and dropped. We found a spring and didn't know where it came from. I wondered if perhaps that spring has come out of the extender pole and is the reason why the corner is drooping. The problem seems to be getting a little worse everytime we put up the unit.

Can anyone help please? ist_depressiv

Take the pin out where the middle pole pivots by prising the button head off and lift the pole so the sliding section with the two extender poles can come off the bottom. Then the springs can fall out or be put back in and the sliding section replaced. You should open the unit up to do it but prop the floor section under the rack with something like a stool so the canvas remains slack.

Thanks Pete, all a bit gobbledygooky but we'll have a looksee. If I can't find the spring, where would I get one from? Any idea?

Siggi (Mangine) is the only place I can think of offhand, his contact details are under dealers.

I contacted Siggi about my "drooping corner" and he believes that the spring isn't broken but perhaps has gone inside the pole itself. This may have happened when the section slipped once. The drooping corner has been getting worse and this may be caused by the spring moving further into the pole section.

Siggi suggested opening the unit but leaving the "Y" poles down, pulling the pole out of the section at the "Y", retrieving the spring out of the pole and reinserting, perhaps with a washer to prevent the spring going inside the pole again.

I can't open up the unit until Saturday in Cornwall ist_skeptisch so I'm going to take a selection of washers with me from hubby's toolshed and see if this works. I'll let you all know.

Pete, your reply seems to be in respect of an Easy, rather than a Venezia. Your pictures for replacing springs certainly show Easy setup for the poles.

It's a Sport in the pictures. On the end opening Sport/Easy etc. you have to pull the pin out to get the poles apart, as Pete says. On the Family if the Y bit isn't up you can pull them apart easily, the Venezia is probably the same.
I had a spring come out on my Family last week - a big gust of wind blew it all sideways just as we were folding up. We put the spring back in and put the pole back together and it was fine. daumen_hoch

The pole in the Venezia has a pin welded in so far up to stop the spring going inside it.

Oh well! I'll just have to wait until Saturday and see what happens. Thanks for all the tips.

We slept with our drooping corner as we arrived at 3am. I did manage to fall down a hole while carrying the poles at that time! Hee hee! Ooops!

Anyway in the morning, we dropped the supports inside, pulled the rear diagonal pole out of its casing and let the spring drop out.

It had gone inside the diagonal pole as Siggi suggested.

We couldn't find a washer the right size so we tried our pockets. Yes! Result! A 10p piece is exactly the right size.

We dropped the spring into the casing attached to the centre pole, slid the 10p piece into the casing so it stayed flat against the top of the spring and then re-inserted the diagonal pole.

No droopy corner and no further problems!!!

So if you have a droopy corner inside your main Venezia unit [or probably Country too] - try a 10p piece on the top of the spring.
