Just thought I'd take a minute to introduce myself, I'm Lee and my partner Al and we are very keen campers. We currently have a 6 berth tent which is a pain to erect in even the slightest breeze! So we've been looking for a decent TT or FC for a while now. After trawling eBay and the free ad sites we went to look at a CC and instantly fell in love with it's simplicity (we like things simple). So now we're on the look out for a 'fixer-upper' to call our holiday home. Hope you are well and happy campers and look forward to many happy holidays in a CC
Just as an afterthought, is anyone familier with the law on towing weights? It's just our other car is a Morris Minor Traveller and we'd love to take it away with us instead of the eurobox. |

Hi Lee & Al. Welcome to the mad world of Combi Camping.
A Combi would look great behind your Morris Minor Traveller.
To be legal, you mustn't exceed the towing limit of the car, or the trainweight. I don't suppose you have the handbook which would give the braked and unbraked towing limits for the car, but the trainweight should be on the plate that gives the weights in the engine compartment. Maybe there is an Owners Club who could help with the info?
As you are looking for an older Combi, it would probably be unbraked but the max gross weight would be 450 Kgs or less, so I'm pretty sure you would be ok. I'm sure I saw these cars towing c@r@v@ns when I was young. |

We towed a Combi quite happily with Flossie (a Trafalgar Blue Traveller) amd Ruby (an Old English White Traveller) The older models (Speed, Easy etc|)are well within a Moggy's towing capabilities.
We still have Ruby, and her cousin Ollie, a 1960 convertible of the same colour, languishing in our garage and a local lock-up. My 16 year-old wants Ollie as her first car, so I am going to have to bite the bullet and find out how much a resto for him will be . 14 year old wants Ruby as his first car, so I have a little more time to get her back in service! _________________ Canvas Fran
