We had a great camping holiday in Scotland about 20 years ago (me and hubby, before children). At least I thought it was great, but it might have been what put my OH off camping for good as he refuses to come with us any more! Being a gentleman, he had the airbed with the slow puncture, and he was eaten alive by midges - poor soul, LOL.
We toured all round, from Deeside, to Inverness and across to the Highlands and Isle of Skye - brilliant. We are planning to go to Scotland this year, but youth hostelling, which should be fun. _________________ Debs xXx

We went a 3 years ago. Started off camping in the grounds of a monastry just outside Durham (Lynda wanted to see the Millenium bridge at Newcastle). From there we went up to Berwick, where we stayed on a site attached to a farm. Incredible path down to the beach. You started off going down a hole in the middle of the site, then down a long tunnel which brought you out about halfway down the cliff. From there you had to abseil down to the beach. Surprisingly enough the beach was fairly deserted, can't think why.
After a couple of nights at Berwick we moved onto the Trossachs and camped just outside Stirling, about 2 miles from the Wallace monument at the foot of the Ochil Hills. Lovely site, great setting and fantastic weather as well.
Can't wait to get going this year, I'm certain we'll do the same as normal and just book the time off work and then a couple of days before we go look at where the weather looks best and head off in that direction.

Not yet, we are going to look at both a Fiesta and a Quick Stop next weekend weather permitting, but if the Fiesta is good then I think we'll go for that. |

You should try Leadhills/Wanlockhead and drive through into the loveley Mennock Pass valley beside the River Mennock.
We go Goldpanning there several times a year |

My apologies.
Its North of Dumfries
Heres the Multimap page, The valley alongside the river is lovely and there is an enormous verge that stretches for miles either side of the road where many people camp. Its big enough so that there is always a peacefull quiet spot.
We normally stop at Nostell priory campsite on the way up. Thats a nice place too. Did a gig there once!
